Internet Speed Test - Check Download, Upload & Ping

Check how fast your connection really is with a quick download, upload, and latency test that runs straight from this page.

No uploads Runs on your device Free forever
Connection speed test

Measures download, upload, ping, and jitter against Cloudflare's public test servers.

Ready when you are.

Data use: the test transfers real data and can use 50-150 MB on a fast connection. Avoid it on a metered mobile plan.

Download
— Mbps
Streaming, browsing, downloads
Upload
— Mbps
Calls, backups, sending files
Ping
— ms
Round-trip delay to the server
Jitter
— ms
Variation in delay between requests

How to read your results

  • Download matters for streaming, browsing, and large files. Around 25 Mbps handles 4K video on one device.
  • Upload matters for video calls, cloud backups, and sending photos. 10 Mbps is comfortable for a single HD call.
  • Ping is the round-trip delay. Under 30 ms feels instant; above 100 ms feels slow in games and calls.
  • Jitter is how much the delay varies. Below 10 ms keeps calls smooth; high jitter causes stutter even on fast lines.
Quick start

How to use Internet Speed Test in 3 simple steps

1

Start the Test

Press Start Test and keep the tab open while the measurements run.

2

Measure Down & Up

The tool samples download and upload throughput against Cloudflare's public test endpoints.

3

Read the Results

Compare download Mbps, upload Mbps, ping, and jitter, then run it again on another network.

About this tool

What an Internet Speed Test Actually Measures

A speed test measures the throughput between your device and a nearby test server, not a promise from your provider. Results move with Wi-Fi signal, the number of devices on the network, the server location, and even the browser tab in the background.

Download speed tells you how quickly data arrives, which matters for streaming and large file downloads. Upload speed controls how fast you can send photos, join a video call, or back up files. Ping is the round-trip delay to the server, and jitter is how much that delay varies, which is what makes a call feel choppy even on a fast line.

Run the test a few times at different moments, and compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection or mobile data. Consistent results are far more useful than a single reading. Close background downloads and pause streaming first so the numbers are not competing for the same bandwidth.

Frequently asked questions about Internet Speed Test

Common questions about usage, privacy, limits, and browser compatibility.

How accurate is a browser speed test?

A browser test is a good real-world estimate because it measures the same path your browsing uses. It can read slightly lower than a native app on very fast lines, since browser networking adds some overhead. Comparing repeated runs on the same device is what matters most.

Why is my result lower than my plan?

Wi-Fi distance, walls, older routers, background downloads, and busy hours all reduce throughput. Try standing near the router, closing other tabs, and testing with a cable if you can. If several wired tests stay well below your plan, contact your provider with the numbers.

What are ping and jitter?

Ping is how long a small request takes to reach the server and come back, measured in milliseconds. Jitter is the variation between those round trips. Low ping with low jitter feels responsive in games and calls, while high jitter causes stutter even when raw speed looks fine.

Does the test use my mobile data?

Yes. The download and upload samples transfer real data, so on mobile they can use tens of megabytes, and the page itself is small compared with the measurement traffic. Keep the test short on a metered plan.

Which server does the test use?

Measurements are taken against Cloudflare's public speed-test endpoints, which are distributed worldwide, so the test server is usually a short network hop away. Your IP address is visible to that service, as it is to any website you visit, but no file is uploaded and nothing is stored by Toolnova.

Can I test a specific website's speed?

This tool measures your connection, not the performance of a particular website. To judge a site's speed, open it and use your browser's developer tools or a Lighthouse audit, which reports load timings and page weight for that URL.
